Join us at MUHC’s Got Talent, a fundraising event featuring exciting performances by MUHC health care professionals. Created by the MUHC Foundation in 2022, MUHC’s Got Talent has since raised over $1,000,000 to support excellence in research and patient care at the MUHC.

What is MUHC’s Got Talent?

Modelled after the hit TV show, MUHC’s Got Talent takes MUHC health care professionals out of the clinic and onto the stage to showcase their hidden talents for a good cause.
The fundraising event supports causes at the MUHC closest to each performer’s heart, from cancer research to respiratory care.

How it works

Make a donation to the MUHC Foundation to cast your vote.
Two MUHC stars will be crowned by voters, and three will be selected for prizes by a star-studded panel of celebrity judges.

Meet the 2023 Performers

Dr. Marcel Behr

My name is Dr. Marcel Behr, and I am supporting the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4). Vote for me below.

Dr. Marcel Behr is Director of the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4) and a classically trained musician. While he enjoyed his lessons at the Royal Conservatory of Music growing up, it was his high school band teacher who inspired him to throw out his sheet music and learn to improvise. These days, he is much more likely to play Elton John than Bach or Vivaldi. When not behind his keyboard, he leads over 250 experts at MI4 as they find solutions to some of the world’s deadliest diseases: COVID-19, tuberculosis and more.

Billie Du Page

My name is Billie du Page, and I am supporting rare and genetic disease research. Vote for me below.

Billie du Page is a singer/songwriter who studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston during a summer session. In 2020, at just 15 years old, she won a talent show on the popular Noovo television program La semaine des 4 Julie. She is keen to pursue a career in music and is currently in the studio recording new songs. Billie is lending her extraordinary talent to support the work of Dr. Donald Vinh, who provides much-needed support to patients with rare and genetic diseases. Show business runs in Billie’s family: her mother is actress, host and writer Julie du Page.

We are The Pillars, and we are supporting the recruitment and training of the MUHC’s talented nurses. Vote for us below.

Nurses are the pillars of the health care system. Driven by knowledge and passion, the MUHC’s 3,500 nurses are here to provide the best care for you and your family. They stay by your side for every moment of your health care journey. They laugh and they cry with you. When not in their scrubs, The Pillars are mothers and fathers, friends, yoga instructors, coaches, dancers, musicians, and singers. They promise to make you jump out of your seat with their rocking musical performance. Support the MUHC’s nurses!

Fatima Zahra Haouzi

My name is Fatima Zahra Haouzi, and I am supporting cancer research. Vote for me below.

Fatima Zahra Haouzi is a geotechnical engineer at AtkinsRéalis with a hidden talent: she is a classical guitarist. Originally from Morocco, Fatima lost her father to cancer a decade ago, and is proud to perform in support of cancer research and a new technique called liquid biopsy. This extraordinary tool allows physicians to identify and monitor cancer in patients using a blood sample and will revolutionize cancer care. A partner of the MUHC Glen site since its inception, AtkinsRéalis is proud to participate in MUHC’s Got Talent.

Lauren Vieira

My name is Lauren Vieira, and I am supporting the MUHC’s most pressing needs. Vote for me below.

Lauren Vieira’s love of singing started with Disney sing-a-long tapes when she was just a little girl. A self-taught vocalist, she has performed at Montreal’s Club Soda and even auditioned for Canadian Idol. Her pop and country vocals are sure to make you dance. When not on the stage, Lauren provides invaluable support to the MUHC Foundation as an executive assistant. All votes for Lauren will support the most pressing needs of the MUHC, ensuring the very best health care for all.

À la Carte

We are À la Carte, and we are supporting the revitalization of the Lachine Hospital. Vote for us below.

À la Carte is made up of six friends who sing a capella with classic barbershop harmonies. The lively group has toured the north shore of Quebec, bringing sweet sounds to many communities. They are fundraising in support of the Lachine Hospital to show gratitude for the amazing care some of their singers have received there, including life-changing cataract surgery. Get ready to enjoy pop songs from the 60s, the 80s and beyond.

Dr. Jason Shahin

I am Dr. Jason Shahin, and I am supporting the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Vote for me below.

Respirologist turned rockstar Dr. Jason Shahin returns to MUHC’s Got Talent this year with a brand new band. After a third-place finish last year, Dr. Shahin is turning up the amps for an unparalleled performance that is sure to capture the hearts of the audience and the judges. As always, the band hopes to entertain, induce mild tinnitus, and raise funds to support lifesaving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Dr. Matthias Friedrich

My name is Dr. Matthias Friedrich, and I am supporting cardiology care. Vote for me below.

Dr. Matthias Friedrich is a cardiologist and researcher at the MUHC who loves to rock. He returns to MUHC’s Got Talent for the second time this year. When he’s not wailing on his guitar, he is Scientific Director of the Courtois Cardiovascular Signature Program, where he researches imaging techniques to diagnose cardiovascular disease. A guitarist since age 14, he takes musical inspiration from Cat Stevens, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Today, he also plays piano and composes music.

Patricia Soussana

My name is Patricia Soussana, and I am supporting the MUHC Breast Clinic. Vote for me below.

Patricia Soussana is a hairstylist, make-up artist and breast cancer survivor. She has loved to sing and dance since she was a teenager, and is thrilled to give back to the MUHC Breast Clinic by performing at MUHC’s Got Talent. The owner of O Way Coiffure-Spa, Patricia is a long-time supporter of the Raise Craze head shaving fundraiser, and was responsible for shaving MUHC Breast Clinic Director Dr. Sarkis Meterissian’s head in 2021.

Dave Hazel

My name is Dave Hazel, and I’m supporting the Adult Ophthalmologic Clinic. Vote for me below.

A dedicated musician since high school, Dave loves to experiment with different genres. From classic metal to jazz and baroque, to Japanese pop and Celtic-inspired tunes, Dave’s vast interests reflect his creative spirit. When he’s not jamming with Uriel, his band of 7 years, Dave provides key support to the Adult Ophthalmologic Clinic, where he works as an administrative agent. A gaming hobbyist and vintage collector, Dave has a ton of passion, and can’t wait to bring it to the MUHC’s Got Talent stage. Carole Gilman
Supporting the
MUHC's Transplant Program

Carole Gilman knows firsthand how a transplant can save someone - 17 years ago, she donated a kidney to her husband, giving him 13.5 years of quality life. A dedicated board member at the National Kidney Donation Organization (NKDO) Canada, Carole works to encourage and improve living kidney donations across Canada. She will be performing an Argentinian tango to raise money for the MUHC's Transplant Program. Vote for her below!

Braeden Badner, a piano enthusiast and master's student in Neuroscience at McGill, is performing a captivating piano and vocal piece to raise funds for the Srour Lab, which is exploring the genetic causes of epilepsy. All funds will support the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation of the MUHC.

Victoria Hindley has always had a passion for the arts, and she began singing in primary school. A pop music enthusiast, she will be hitting the stage to sing in support of her cousin Shawnea Roberts, who is the co-founder of the SDR Project. All funds will support Dr. Donald Vinh's genetic and rare disease research.

Clara MacMahon
Supporting the MUHC’s Centre for Microbiome Research

Clara MacMahon, a PhD student in Dr. Irah King's Microbiology and Immunology lab, has discovered a deep passion for salsa and bachata. After more than two years of dancing, Clara and her partner Alonso are ready to captivate the audience with their rhythmic salsa moves and effortless connection to the music. They’re dancing in support of the MUHC’s Centre for Microbiome Research!

Meet Our Judges

Laura Casella

Laura is a second-generation Italian-Canadian from Montreal’s Saint-Leonard borough with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Concordia University. She began her broadcasting career in 2007 on CJAD, later working as a morning news reporter and freelancing for CTV Montreal, where she covered significant events like the 2012 Quebec student protests and the papal conclave in Rome. Before joining Global News in 2016 as host and anchor of Global News Morning, she reported and anchored for BT Montreal (City TV). Laura is also a community member, mother to Ella and Gia, and hosts “The Weekend Breakfast” on the Beat 92.5.

Nick Farkas

Nick Farkas has been a key figure in Montreal’s live music scene for over 30 years. Starting with punk and metal shows in the late 1980s, he co-founded Greenland Productions in 1993 and later joined legendary promoter Donald K. Donald in 1997, through several mergers leading to House of Blues Concerts Canada. For over 20 years, Nick has led evenko’s Talent Buying division, booking 1,200+ shows annually across various venues in Montreal, Quebec, Atlantic Canada, and Vermont. He oversees evenko’s festivals, including Osheaga, IleSoniq, Lasso, YUL Eat, Heavy Montreal, and ‘77 Montreal. Nick chairs the Canadian Live Music Association and sits on the boards of the evenko foundation, Goal Initiative, and REMI.

Isabelle Racicot

Isabelle has been a prominent figure on Canadian television and radio for over 20 years, working in both French and English. Known for her authentic style, she has hosted shows like "Des idées de grandeur," "2 Filles le matin," and "Ça Finit bien la semaine." She recently produced and hosted the documentary “Pour mes fils, mon silence est impossible” and the "Les Dix" specials on Radio-Canada. Currently, Isabelle hosts the afternoon show on RythmeFM and the podcast “Isabelle Racicot rencontre.” She has also hosted Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa since 2022 and the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards since 2021.

MUHC’s Got Talent 2022:
The Inaugural Event

One night. 10 remarkable performances.

The first annual MUHC’s Got Talent was a night to remember, raising $677,000 to support a variety of causes at the MUHC. The exciting evening, hosted by singer-songwriter Florence K, treated attendees to a rocking cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” by respirologist Dr. Jason Shahin and his band, the Heartbeats. The John Rennie Glee Club performed a sugary-sweet ABBA medley in support of Dr. Lucy Gilbert’s DOvEE test for the early detection of ovarian cancer. Dr. Pamela Jones, orthopedic surgeon at the Lachine Hospital, wowed the audience with an angelic aria. And singer-songwriter Billie du Page treated the audience to two gorgeous original songs in support of Dr. Don Vinh’s research into rare and genetic diseases. Quebecers joined the fun in person at the Corona Theatre or by watching the livestream, and casting their vote.
